Not so welcome to Sajjanpur

A disappointing movie even though I did not have very high expectations going into the show.

The story line is not fully baked in and none of the characters are really developed well, including the lead character Mahadev played by Shreyas Talpade. Even though the movie is mostly about Mahadev, Talpade's character is not well fleshed out; there is not much insight into his past, motivations etc. except for the fact that he could not find a job and all of a sudden finds himself in love with a married woman.

It seems the director/producer loved the idea of a collage of sub-stories woven around a modern-day Indian village and hoped to do a Bunti aur Bubli but could not make up their mind on exactly what they wanted to say. Consequently, you see sundry issues thrown into the move without really gelling with the story; for example - a skit on land acquisition. The first half is especially sorry and only the injection of some emotion in the second half makes it interesting. The below the belt jokes in the first half make it even sorrier. The acting in the movie is average except for Shreyas and Yashpal Sharma and most of other the actors have hammed it.

Could have been a lot better.
